Now that you have lost your $50,000 a year job,and now receiving unemployment and food stamps, why haven't your friends called in weeks?
All of those questions are things going through the minds of the newly poor, the folks who have worked their tail off most of their working lives.
They now have to ask themselves should I continue to drive my image car or do I downsize to a Chevy?
Do I continue to shop at Safeway, when it's cheaper to shop at the Piggly Wiggly or Wally World(Walmart for those out of the loop).
Man do I miss being at the club with my American Express Card for all to see!
Now I notice Skippy and Ray-Ray standing on the corner day after day, with a look of never ending despair, could that be me in a short while?
Could that be me with the bottle of Wild Irish Rose and the funny grin on my face of hopelessness?
Or is this just a bad damn dream!

Well, personally & in YOUR case, I hope it's just a BAD dream! So WAKE UP, MAC!
Seriously though: the trials we are given in this life, no matter how large or how hard, are designed to show us WHO we are, & how we handle adversity. Do we bitch & moan? Do we cower & fall? Or do we rise & suprise ourselves & those around us with our fortitute & strength of character?

Happy New Year, Big Mac!
One.
Lin:I learned a valuable less from your response, that lesson is to proof read my post and make sure I'm conveying properly my thoughts.
The post wasn't about me personally, but about so many people that I know and don't know,so thank you for allowing me to edit this post.

Mac, even the good times are as much a "dream" as the bad times. If we're subject to one, we're subject to the other.
Perfection is the only proper definition of who we are--precluding both the good and the bad.
Yep, BigMac, it's rough out there. A lot of people are having to downsize and stop living beyond their means. They are getting a big reality check.
Have a great 2012 BigMac!
Happy New Year, Big Mac!
I shop at the Grocery Outlet, and have noticed more and more of those who look "newly poor".
They are now shopping in discount grocery outlets and one can only imagine what they feel about it.
Some are better able to ride thru the hard times than others.
Hi Big Mac,
It's so weird trying to feel power from outside with an image car or the labels on our clothes. It's a never ending chase.
I feel it inside and when I'm reading your posts. Thank you.
Brother I'm just glad that I was able to sell my house last year.
Yeah there are a helluvalot more poor people today than there were ten short years ago. See what all those tax cuts bought us?!? See what all that deregulation did for us?!?
I volunteer once a month at a local homeless shelter and there are people there that never in a million years thought they'd be there. I like it on my side of the counter, I hope to never end up on the other side of it.
How are you, friend? This is the young man that worked with you at Get-Go a couple years ago. Sorry, I haven't been in contact with you in awhile. You loaned a book, "Lies My Teacher Told Me". Still haven't completely read it yet....lool, but I hope that everything is well with you. Email sometime @ Dbrown56@ymail.com. I would love to chat and catch up. I just finally remembered to get back to my blog.(will put up new posts soon) Anyways, I look forward to hearing from you and reading more of your thoughts.
Knowledge is experience and wisdom is measured in miles. Traveled physically or figuratively, we learn from our experiences and the people we meet.
Peace, Brother!
