Economics 101,Nike,Kanye West

I just read a story in our local fish wrapper here, talking about the selling and hyping of the new designer sneaker by Nike for Kayne West for a whopping $245.00.
The story went on to talk about a few young brothers who had camped out at the local mall store for a week so they would be the first to purchase these new designer sneakers.
My first reaction was to say what the f----,where were their  parents, where were their auntie, uncle, sister, brother, any damn body to drag their little behinds home and pimp slap them!
I wear a size 17 EEEE tennis shoe and shopped on line for a week at amazon until I found a pair  of New Balance for under $50.00.
Now you see why we as a culture are not taken serious,by anyone including our own selves.
                                                                                         Big Mac!

I heard about this last week. Fools were in these long-azz lines for DAYS when they weren't even SURE if the store would have them in stock! I just shook my head. Actually, here is NY, they were selling for even more than the price you quoted, & being auctioned online for some crazy-stoopid-ridic price that went waaaaay into the thousands. I can't even imagine WHY anyone, even a billionaire, would pay so much for a pair of kicks, unless they were laced w/ gold!

Either young people are exposed to waaaay too much money, or this society really has its priorities ALL screwed up!

One.

It's the power of the herd mentality. It's even cool for them to BE in the line! The entire experience is one of bonding, not unlike sports frenzy I would guess.

I remember pictures of past sneaker frenzies when cats ran right out of their shoes, rushing to get thru the mall to the store. Not even a second to lose in putting their shoe back on their feet! We human beings are some strange somebodies, is all I can say.

I cannot see paying more than $100 for any article of clothing unless it is a good fitted suit. This is that bullshit man. Give it a week you will hear about some kid in Chicago, my beloved Baltimore or Philly getting killed becasue he wouldn't give up his "yeezys"

Damn brother you've got some big feet. I'll bet when you take your shoes off they look like canoes.

There is no way in hell that I would pay more than 60$ for athletic shoes........absolutely not.

Amen, brother. Amen. I pay $100 for mine, size 13 eee only because I have flat feet and my podiatrist prescribed them.
