Michael Vick Stuck On Stupid!

: Eagles may cut Michael Vick

PHILADELPHIA:  A person familiar with the team's thinking says the Philadelphia Eagles are strongly considering releasing Michael Vick.

The person says the team might cut Vick no matter what police conclude during their investigation of a shooting that followed the quarterback's birthday celebration in Virginia Beach last week. The person spoke to The Associated Press early Saturday on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation.

The Eagles issued a statement Saturday saying "any report or speculation that suggests the Eagles are considering releasing Vick are not true. We will continue to gather information and monitor the situation and we will not have any further comment until that process is complete."

Vick has said he had nothing to do with the shooting. He also said he reported the incident to the Eagles and to the NFL. Commissioner Roger Goodell told the former Atlanta Falcons star after reinstating him last season that his margin for error was "extremely limited."

Vick is entering his second season with the Eagles and is due to earn $5.2 million. A three-time Pro Bowl pick, Vick is Kevin Kolb's backup and the most experienced quarterback on the roster following the trade of Donovan McNabb.

The Eagles were heavily criticized by animal rights activists and fans for signing Vick last summer less than a month after he finished serving 18 months in federal prison for his role in a dogfighting operation.

Team owner Jeffrey Lurie called Vick's actions "horrific" and "despicable." He said he did serious "soul-searching" before agreeing to sign him.

Vick was a model citizen off the field and in the locker room during his first season with the Eagles. He was popular among his teammates, who voted him winner of the Ed Block Courage Award.

But this latest incident could end up costing Vick his job, even if he's exonerated of any wrongdoing.

Vick was expected to play a major role in Philadelphia's offense running the wildcat formation. Instead, he was used sparingly. Vick completed 6 of 13 passes for 86 yards and one touchdown and ran for 95 yards and two scores. He tossed a 76-yard TD pass in a 34-14 loss to Dallas in the playoffs.

One def has to wonder why he would go to a nightclub considering all of the trouble athletes get into in clubs.

You would think Vick would have figured out after 18 months in the pokey that the game of life for him is rigged and control.

I was in the stadium when Vick made his pre-season debut in Philly. I have never seen so many home made jersey's in my life.
People were all over themselves excited about Vick, he has support here, and...

We just want a superbowl win. Is that too much to ask? Just one little superbowl?

Mike has to live..I support his right to do that...

Maybe the team, the fans and Mike himself are all looking to renew that once promising possibility. Things change. People change.

Perhaps the reality is simply this:

"Though nothing can bring back the hour of splendor in the grass, glory in the flower. We will grieve not, rather find strength in what remains behind. "

Whatsup my BigMacAttack.

Man, stupid me, I've been crying about your link on my blogroll, and then I saw you over @ Tha L spot. I clicked on your name and BAM, here I am.

I don't have much to say about the Vick thang except, although I don't agree with your title, I agree with your last comment. I mean, the boy can't win. Like Thrasher said, he has to live, but it seems damn near impossible for him to have a life without everyone judging his every move.

In this sense, he sort of like our president. They're damned if they do and fk'ed if they don't.

On a side note. You cease to amaze me. I didn't know you liked Gil Scott Heron. I recently did a post on him and The Last Poets. I even attached the same video that's on your page (the bottle).

Are you sure you're not my long lost brother. What's yo daddy's name? :-)

And, what's your drink of choice? When I once drank booze, mine was cognac.

And, you like the Ojays, and the movie Malcolm X!

Get out of here, you're killing me.

Next you'll be telling me you liked the Spinners and Johnny guitar Watson's "tata ya baby", and the Crusaders.

But don't let me get started, Moanerplicity is in the house, and that boy knows his music(and the Crusaders), and WILL talk about it.

I GET THE IMPRESSION THAT SOME OF YOU THINK i'm hating on Vick,to the contray I call it like I see it,the man has paid a hugh price for making stupid decisons,he still seems not to be able to tally the cost of the moves he makes today.
Going to any bar or club for him is asking for trouble period,y'all know as well as I how folk act after having a drink or two!
Mike just need to find him a few trusted friends go buy a bottle and party in the confines of his home.

You know Big Mack Attack, I don't do this often, but I had to come back and say you're right and I was wrong. I ran my mouth before thinking this through.

How could I, I I I forget the problem is his, mine, ours when we go to places where people act a damn fool.

Whatever the case may be, he has no one to blame but his self.

Thanks for the come up.
