Just How Rude Are We As A Society?

Is it me or has civility gone out the back door in this society?
I mean what's up with the rudeness that we endure daily while we work, shop and play?
While growing up in the late 1950's and 60's I can't remember people in my neighborhood being as uncivil as my neighbors are presently.
Everyone knew just about everyone on their block or street and would always say hello or good morning .
But in today's world ,it seems to me that people go out of their way  not to interact with you.
I read an article in the New York Times recently on this subject and some of the reasons given  for the up tick in rudeness were, anonymity, stress, lack of time, lack of restraint and insecurity.
What are your thoughts on this question of mine?

I live in Az.
Out here no one sits in their front yard.
They open the automatic garage door opener, enter their garage and will not be seen until they leave in the morning.
We have become robotized.
We go through a grocery store, pick our items and scan them ourselves, and put money into a little slot. No human contact at all.
In yesteryear we went to the local bakery, butcher shop, etc. And we actually had a conversation with the person behind the counter.
We would know each others families.
No more.
The MSM is also partly to blame.
Day after day they report the fear card of local crime.
Never do we hear of good deeds done by our neighbors.
We are on a Space Odyssey of fear, and self imposed anxiety attacks of others.

I just don't think that anyone gives a shit anymore.

Our society has gone to hell in a handbasket. As the years go by I find myself liking people less and less. That's why I'm always saying that the more I know people, the more I like roaches.

RealityZone:You said a mouthful with your comment and I can't disagree one iota,my question in response to your post. Where does it end?
Reggie:I can always depend on you to put it where the goats can get it!
To use your favorite phrase "It is what it is"

It ends when we say it ends.
Either on a personal level, or in a community.
I am believing more that the only real answer is total collapse.
We need to start over.

Modern day bondage is color blind.
Although some colors [other than white] are held tighter.
We must do the best with what we have.
Teach your children well.
